WHEN YOU HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT WATER, WATER SCHOOL HAS ANSWERS

water-school-chalkbo...

Water is one of the most common, yet limited resources on our planet. It is vital to our existence, yet it is taken for granted by many.  Usually, it’s not until there are issues with our water that we begin to ask ourselves such questions as “Where does our water come from?”  “Is our water safe to drink?” or “Who owns our water?”

For this reason, the Brazos River Authority created Water School, a wealth of water information at your fingertips.

Water School, provides short answers on topics such as conservation, drought, flooding, groundwater, hydrology, water and wastewater treatment, water planning, and transportation.

Water School also provides information about programs and services provided by the BRA as we fulfill our mission to develop, manage and protect the water resources of the Brazos River basin.

Some of the topics addressed by Water School include:

  • What are 500-year, 100-year, and 50-year floods? Why does Texas have so many manufactured lakes?
  • Do lakes have a lifetime? What contaminants can be found in drinking water?
  • What is primary amebic meningoencephalitis (PAM) and how can you prevent infection? What is xeriscaping, and how can it help conserve water
  • What causes water sometimes to have an offensive odor or taste?
  • Where can I put my canoe in the river?
