The Brazos River Authority lakes and parks are just a short drive and offer summer fun that will

Whether your family enjoys fishing, camping, boating, swimming or just spending a relaxing day
at beautiful Texas locales, there is at least one BRA lake nearby that is the perfect place to spend your time
without spending much money.
Most of the BRA’s public access picnic and beach areas offer free day-use and camping areas that
include restrooms, security lighting and parking. Some areas have additional facilities such as grills, boat
launches, courtesy docks and fishing piers.
Lake Granbury
Located southwest of Fort Worth, Lake Granbury offers four parks with free overnight campsites.
Your family can spend up to a week camping at the scenic parks that offer grills, picnic tables, and fire rings for
that traditional late-night Smores snack. Public restrooms with running water can be found at every park.
If boating is your family's passion, you’re in luck! There are free public boat ramps at all four
parks on Lake Granbury. Two park locations feature fishing piers for those who choose to catch their dinner.
Lake Limestone
Located 40 miles east of Waco, Lake Limestone offers two BRA-operated lake parks. The first,
located in Robertson County near the Robertson Dam, offers day-use amenities including pavilions, picnic tables and
grills perfect for your family cookouts. Public restrooms are also on hand at the park.
The second BRA park at Lake Limestone is located in Leon County, northeast of the dam. This
location is equipped with public restrooms, a boat ramp, pavilions, and grills. The park also offers a boat ramp,
fishing piers and overnight campsites.
Whether you’re planning for a day or a week, Lake Limestone can accommodate you and your family
for fun close to home. Just pack your tent and essentials, such as drinking water and food, and you’re set to go.
Reservations are not required. Campsites are offered on a first-come, first served basis. For additional
information, please visit the BRA website here.
Possum Kingdom Lake
The largest of the BRA’s lakes, Possum Kingdom is located northwest of Fort Worth in Palo Pinto
County. Offering scenery straight from the old west, the lake offers five BRA parks with parking, restrooms, boat
ramps and overnight camping.
Three lakeside parks are free for both day-use and camping year-round. The lake's Sandy Beach
Park and North D & D each charge $3 per day per adult during the summer months. Each park offers different
amenities including boat ramps, public restrooms with showers, fire rings and cooking grills.
If your family would enjoy a break from the water, be sure to check out BRA’s hike and biking
trails. The trail offers spectacular views of the lake with guided treks from 1 – 5 miles in length.
Free maps of each BRA lake, lake parks and trail locations are available on the BRA website or
through the BRA Public Information Office at 888-922-6272.
