Lubbock: Fourth on Broadway
Lubbock’s annual Fourth on Broadway celebration with a parade and street fair begins at 9 a.m. followed by live music, and a street fair featuring a wide array of food and craft booths. The day ends with a concert and fireworks display at McKenzie Park. Time: All Day. Cost: Free.
Possum Kingdom Lake
Join the Possum Kingdom Lake Chamber of Commerce for the 20th Annual Fireworks at Hells Gate Celebration at the YMCS”s Camp Grady Spruce. Pack up a picnic and blanket. The YMCA’s camp gate opens at 6:30 p.m. and closes at 8:45 p.m. A $5 per person donation to the Chamber of Commerce fee, will help provide for next year’s event. Concessions are available.
Granbury
The Granbury Chamber of Commerce has a weekend packed full of events for its 35th Annual Old-Fashioned 4th of July Celebration.
The celebration truly has something for everyone. Events begin with a bike decorating contest and a parade in downtown Granbury. Events continue throughout the day with local food and crafts vendors the Square, Old Fashioned Games at Shanley Park, live entertainment on the Granbury Square, bull and bronc riding at the Reunion Grounds and a big band concert on the Langdon Center lawn. Waco
Each year, more than 15,000 people celebrate the annual 4th on the Brazos at Indian Springs Park in downtown Waco. The celebration along the river offers free live music, family fun and a fireworks extravaganza. Attractions at the event include food courts, inflatable games and a free arts and crafts area for children. Coolers, blankets and chairs are allowed in the park.
Temple
The City of Temple’s annual July 4th Family Fun Fest at Miller Park Independence Day celebration includes activities for the entire family. Enjoy live entertainment, arts & crafts, food & games for the kids. The highlight of the evening is the amazing fireworks display! Don't miss the opportunity for patriotic summer fun!
Killeen - Fort Hood
What a better place to celebrate Independence Day than Fort Hood, the home of thousands who fight for our independence everyday. Fort Hood’s Freedom Fest kicks off this Friday at Hood Stadium on Railhead Drive. The public is invited to celebrate our nation’s birthday with a day of entertainment.
Carnival rides, fishing, inflatables and mini stock car racing are just some of the things you and your family can enjoy for free. Arts and crafts, games and food are available for purchase throughout the day. The fest will conclude with “Sparks in the Park,” a grand fireworks display. Buses will be making stops throughout post and off-post at Killeen, Ellison and Shoemaker high schools every 20 minutes from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. A photo I.D. may be required to all those riding the buses. Georgetown
Enjoy one of the largest family events in central Texas at the 26th Annual Sertoma Club July 4th Family Celebration. Attracting over 50,000 visitors, the festivities at the San Gabriel Park begin at 11 a.m. and last until 10 p.m. on July 4th. With more than 80 booths, a petting zoo, parade, live entertainment, train rides, and fireworks, admission is free.
Austin
Join 100,000 Austinites for the biggest celebration in the city; The H-E-B Austin Symphony July 4th Concert and Fireworks will be held on Saturday at Auditorium Shores in front of the Long Center for Performing Arts. At 8:30 p.m., the Austin Symphony will begin playing patriot songs including the staple Independence Day piece the 1812 Overture.
Their performance of the 1812 Overture will coincide the shooting of cannons by the Texas National Guard Salute Battery and of fireworks over Lady Bird Lake beginning at 9:30 p.m. Come early, bring a picnic, claim a grassy spot and enjoy the patriotic music of the Austin Symphony Orchestra. Concessions will be available on site.
Washington-on-the-Brazos
What better way to celebrate the birth of our nation then by watching fireworks where Texas declared her independence?
The Fireworks-On-The-Brazos presented by HEB offers a live patriotic concert and a fireworks extravaganza with free Blue Bell ice cream and Coca-Cola drinks. A western swing concert and free 1850’s period children’s games are also provided. Festivities begin at 10 a.m. at Washington-on-the-Brazos State Historic Site, 12300 Park Road 12, Washington, TX. Admission is free.
Houston
The nation’s largest land-based fireworks show is happening on the 4th of July at Chevy’s Freedom over Texas celebration in Houston. More than 100,000 people are expected to join in the celebration at Eleanor Tinsley Park at Buffalo Bayou. Festivities begin at 4 p.m. and feature five music stages, NASCAR vehicles, and championship volleyball. An All American Kids Zone with rides, games jugglers and more will also be available.
Sugar Land
The 24th Annual Red, White and Bluesfest sponsored by the City of Sugar Land will be held from 5 – 10 p.m. on the 4th at Oyster Creek Park. Come out and join the fun with live entertainment, a children's stage and activity zone and much more will also be available. Join the fun with bounce houses, patriotic clowns, stilt walkers and delicious food from local vendors. The grand finale to the event, the twenty-minute fireworks display, will begin at 9:30 p.m.
