In an effort to promote the Clean Rivers Program and to broaden
participation of stakeholders’ involvement in water quality management issues, the
Brazos River Authority supports local citizen groups.
The Brazos River Authority has identified that participation from
the public, industry, and local government is crucial to the support of Clean Rivers Program
goals and priorities. The Authority holds annual meetings of its CRP Steering Committee to
review water quality related activities in the basin. CRP Steering Committee meetings are
open to the public and members include representatives from the general public, government,
industry, business, education, agriculture, and environmental groups. The principal focus of
the Steering Committee is to ensure that local concerns are expressed to the planning agencies
and to aid the prioritization of water quality objectives. Additionally, the committee's input
may guide workplan development and allocation of resources by the planning agencies.
