Lake Limestone
Recreation
FISHING
Lake Limestone has a plentiful supply of many different species of fish.
In early spring, the upper reaches of the lake attract crappie fishermen
looking to catch their limits of this favorite pan fish.
Later in the spring, anglers seeking to fill their
limits for catfish find trot lining, drifting, jugging and rod and reel
fishing productive, discovering action from the upper reaches of the
lake downstream to the wide-open area just above the dam.
During the summer months, the white bass begin to
school and chase shad from the lowest reaches of the lake upstream
into the area surrounding the FM Road 3371 bridge over the lake.
Largemouth bass fishermen will also find Lake Limestone to be a challenge,
with both native and Florida strains of bass present.
WATERFOWL HUNTING ON LAKE LIMESTONE
A drawing for Waterfowl Hunting Site Permits will be held at 8:30 a.m. on the last business day
in August of each year. Anyone wishing to obtain a Waterfowl Hunting Site Permit must be present
at the Lake Limestone Project Office at 8:30 to enter their name in the drawing. The permits will
be awarded through a lottery. If fewer entries are received than the number
of available sites, the remaining sites will be available on a first come/first serve basis.
The fee for a waterfowl hunting site permit is $200. A check
or money order made payable to the Brazos River Authority must accompany the
permit application form.
