Upper Basin


2 – GRANBURY: 1st Saturday Bird Walk begins at 7 a.m. at the Acton Nature Center at 6500 Smoky Hill Ct. This family event encourages outdoor activity.  Be sure to bring binoculars for prime bird spotting. For more information, contact (817) 326-6005 or visit here.

9 – ABILENE: Trout Derby from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Cal Young Park Lake located at 950 T&P Lane. Come enjoy this family-friendly activity and catch some rainbow trout. Texas Parks and Wildlife Department will have activities to highlight fish identification, casting and knot tying. For more information, please visit here.

19-20– ABILENE: Texas Farm Ranch & Wildlife Expo from 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. at Taylor County Expo Center located at 1700 TX-36. All are welcome to participate in this annual agribusiness event collaborating with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Office. Featuring seminars, equipment demonstrations and much more. Central Basin

10 – STEPHENVILLE: 2:30 p.m. The annual Valentine Musical at Stephenville Museum Grounds, 525 East Washington. Free to the public, the musical features members of the Stephenville Music Club. Located.  For more information visit here.

11 – WACO: Yoga Lunch Break from noon - 1 p.m. at the Central Library, 1717 Austin Ave. This event is free to the public and beginners are welcome. Bring a mat, towel and bottled water to stay hydrated. For more information, please visit here.

Lower Basin

1 - 28 – COLLEGE STATION: Trail of Lights from 6 - 10 p.m. at Wolf Pen Creek Amphitheater located at 1015 Colgate Dr. Come stroll through the park's trails to view a romantic pathway of lights each night this month.  The Trail of Lights begins at the Holleman Drive entrance, crosses the bridge and ends at the gazebo next to the creek. 9 – BRAZORIA: Winter Paddling Event, 9 a.m. - noon. This event is great for families or first-time paddlers to enjoy the waterways.  For more information on the specific location, please email mikem@brazoria-county.net or call (979) 864-1541.

14 – COLLEGE STATION: Trail of Lights Date Night at Wolf Pen Creek Park, 6 – 9 p.m.  Stroll through a romantic trail of lights. Food trucks and gift vendors will also be on site. Entrance to the trailhead can be accessed at the Holleman Dr. entrance. Guests may bring their own refreshments, but glass containers are not allowed. Coolers must be 48 quarts or smaller. 16 – LAKE JACKSON: Bird Banding, 8 a.m. at the Gulf Coast Bird Observatory, 299 W. Hwy 332. This free event allows volunteers to collect baseline data on bird populations at the sanctuary and provides an opportunity to see birds up close and to learn all the birds of our community.
