The youngest members of the family will enjoy the Brazos River Authority's children's playgrounds at North D & D campground and Sandy Beach Park.
Designed with age appropriate areas for 2-5 year olds and 5-12 year olds, the playgrounds meet national playground guidelines and feature the
latest in child-safe playground equipment with swings, slides, spinners, twisters, climbing areas and learning panels.
These fun zones are Americans with Disabilities Act accessible. They sit atop a 12-inch thick layer of wood chip-style materials to cushion the ground throughout
the play area. The playground also offers parent-friendly sitting areas, with two benches at each playground. Nearby at both parks are ADA accessible restrooms with showers.
Like other BRA parks at Possum Kingdom, Sandy Beach and North D&D feature ample picnic tables, camping and swimming areas. Camping and visiting at these
two popular public areas is free for most of the year, with a small fee charged in the summer months. All other BRA parks are free year-round.
The playground project is part of a renovation and upgrade of lakeside public use areas that has included the refurbishment of boat ramps and courtesy
docks and the addition of picnic shelters, BBQ grills and fire rings.
