Draft Drought Contingency Plan
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) requires the Brazos River Authority to maintain a Drought Contingency Plan (DCP) and to update that plan every five years.
The BRA’s DCP was last updated in 2012 and is undergoing the current update in compliance with TCEQ rules.
The following is a summary of the proposed changes to the plan:
- Established new trigger levels,
- Incorporated requirements specific to BRA’s East Williamson County Regional Water System,
- Referenced seasonal rainfall forecasts developed by the Texas Water Development Board as a drought monitoring tool,
- Clarification of Pro-Rata curtailment language.
