Mark your calendars for BRA’s Waterfowl Hunting Permit drawings

Waterfowl 1

After being stuck inside for most of the spring season, many of us are eager to get back outside for the summer and fall months. It’s never too early to start planning your hunting trips and for a select number of hunters, an exclusive blind location at one of the Brazos River Authority’s beautiful reservoirs could be on their calendar this year. The BRA offers the chance for hunters to enter a lottery-style drawing for hunting blind sites at Possum Kingdom Lake, Lake Granbury and Lake Limestone. With 60 established areas for waterfowl hunting blinds at our three reservoirs, Texas hunters won’t want to miss out on this opportunity.

To be eligible, participants must be at least 18 years old and present at the day and time of the drawing in order to claim their site permit. Only one entry is allowed per person, and one site is allowed per entry. Up to four people may share each site. All participants must have a valid Texas hunting license with the Texas Duck Stamp Endorsement and the current federal Waterfowl Stamp. Everyone must have their names registered for the drawing no later than 8:30 a.m. on the drawing date to enter. The dates and times for each of the reservoir’s drawings are as follows:

Possum Kingdom Lake
8:30 a.m. on August 22, 2020 at the PK Lake Office at 301 Observation Point Road, Graford, Texas 76449
Waterfowl 2
Lake Granbury
8:30 a.m. on August 28, 2020 at the BRA Lake Granbury office at 4552 Mambrino Highway, Granbury, Texas 76048
Lake Limestone
8:30 a.m. on August 28, 2020 at the BRA Lake Limestone office at 20226 Sterling Robertson Dam Road, Thornton, Texas 76687

At each drawing, the first selected will have the first pick out of the hunting sites, followed by the next who are drawn in order. In the case that fewer entries are received than the number of available sites, the remaining sites will be available on a first-come/first-served basis. If selected, a $200 permit fee is required at the time of the drawing. Checks or money orders made payable to the BRA are accepted.

The BRA provides the hunting sites for those who are selected during the drawing, but hunters are responsible for bringing their own blinds. Hunting on the reservoirs is reserved for specified locations and not permitted on BRA property that is not designated for waterfowl blinds or bow hunting. Therefore, hunters must always stay within 20 feet of their marked area while hunting and firearms or projectiles are restricted outside of the designated areas.

Have questions about the drawing? Want a map of the available hunting blind sites at each location? Call the lake office where you would like to hunt for more information about waterfowl hunting at our reservoirs.
